A Liebster award x 2

I have been feeling the Liebster love this week. Actually that's like saying ATM machine (Automatic Teller Machine machine..) because Liebster apparently means a bunch of variations on lovely. Essentially a Liebster award is a way of bloggers recognising other bloggers and spreading the word. You can read my previous Liebster award post here. I've been nominated for two Liebster awards in the last week which is such a joy. The first was from Sheridan who writes over at Sheridan Anne - a lovely lifestyle blog with recipes, DIY and household tips for busy mums.
The second was from Nicole from The Builder's Wife. Nicole's blog is a bit of a chronicle of her journey to renovate and extend her gorgeous Queenslander. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the mood for a reno or home decoration inspiration.

My First Blogday

Exactly one year ago today I started this little blog. You can read my very first post here. It was a little scary to put my writing out there in cyberspace when, for the longest time, my 'writing' had been confined to Facebook statuses (read more about why here).

I am very proud of my blog and the fact that I have stuck with it for a whole year. I did wonder at the beginning if it would end up just another 3-post-blog adding to the detritus of the world wide web. So far so good, 81 posts and going strong.

Starting

So, I am starting a blog.

Nothing unusual really as there are very large numbers of people with a blog, or who start one at least. Also, I am excellent at starting things. I am also not too bad at finishing things but I am relatively hopeless at any kind of long-term continuing-on with things. Still, one must start.

I decided to do this because I am not the sort of person who coasts along in life. I don't really coast along in anything. Definitely not a coaster. I am potentially entering a period of reduced work hours,  stress and increased time for non-work pursuits and I know that unless I give myself things to do that are at least slightly artistic I will spend my time doing random jobs and errands, over-organising the minute details of my life and checking Facebook.
