Underwater Puppies

I have to admit that when I heard about this book my first reaction was awww puppies, such a good idea, he's gonna make a mint.

I'm a cynical cow.

Then I happened to be on the treadmill on the gym when one of the morning shows interviewed the photographer, Seth Casteel. I fell in love. Well, he's pretty cute, but moreso I fell in love with his message. He teaches water safety to dogs.

Fat Mum Slim Photo a day #2

Well I'm still faffing about with my camera and I still have not read the damn manual but I did manage to make it through an entire months of taking a photo everyday. This is a little late because life got chaotic but just for posterity I wanted to share the second half of October's Photo a day pics. When I left you last time I had got up to P.

Happy Monday

Whoah life has changed in a week. Last Monday after I hit publish on my Happy Monday post, I headed off to a specialist appointment and finally (after five weeks) got the all clear on a very worrying health thing (post to come). I feel like a weight has been lifted. I have again started to make plans to do things, see friends, conquer the world. I no longer have that horrible niggle in the back of my mind telling me to wait, to not think too far ahead, just in case. It has been a GOOD WEEK folks. A timely reminder that I need to enjoy each day as it comes.

Practise makes perfect... or at least better.

I am now a complete expert on blogging, having had a blog for a whole year and two months. In the same way that I am an expert on children because I have changed a couple of nappies and read "Where is Spot" at least a dozen times (well, maybe half a dozen times but I used voices and everything!).

I may also be prone to hyperbole. Yeah, maybe...

What I am humbly aware of is that doing something regularly really does help make you better at it. And that is what this blog has done for me.

A few months ago I read a post on Cook Republic, an award-winning Australian blog, where Sneh talks about her eight years of blogging and the path from "ugly looking curries shot at awkward amateur angles" to the magical, inspiring creation it is today- my words, not hers, she is very humble. It helped me feel better about some of the very average photographs I took in the beginning...

Why I Write

I have recently happened upon a beautiful blog, Maxabella loves..., an exquisite, magical insight into a really generous spirit layered with gorgeous photographs and life inspiration. And the best children's parties you have ever seen! EVER.

Bron was tagged to participate in a bloggity meme 'Why I Write' and invited other bloggers to take part.

I don't often participate in these things because while I triumphantly plug away at this blogging/writing thing I know I am a big ol' clunky novice in this world of talents with Literature degrees and plush photos. But, I bang away because I know for sure that the only way to get better is to do. So, without further ado.....
